I don't want to say too much about this last installment in The Forest of Hands and Teeth trilogy, since it's more of a direct sequel to The Dead-Tossed Waves. This was my favorite interior story of the three books, as Annah's emotional pain and struggles seemed more "real" to me personally than Mary's and Gabry's in the previous two books, and her story and Catcher's made a very good parallel. On the other hand, it was my least-favorite exterior story, in that the scariest people aren't zombies

Picking up right where we left off at the end of "The Dead-Tossed Waves", "The Dark and Hollow Places" ups the pace of the story, making us feel just as desperate as the rest of the main characters thus far.This last third book in the trilogy (though I really, really hope there are others!) unites all of the characters we've met since the first book together in a frenetic union of panic and love, lust and hurt. I adore this series. I was skeptical at first but I always am. I just can't hand the lip gloss dot your eyes with wash and curl kind of books. This series isn't one of them. These books made me squee with delight as each girl endured a loss sprikled torture but found love in the most unsuspecting of places.
