Ilustration To Books xxxHolic, Vol. 4 (xxxHOLiC #4)

It’s Valentine’s Day–and while Domeki is showered with chocolates and cards from girls, Watanuki receives none. To make matters worse, he must also do the usual chores for Yûko, which includes making chocolate cake for her and Mokona, as well as the treats his boss wants to give away as gifts. But when Watanuki discovers he has a shy and secret admirer who is not quite human, he finds that chocolates can be more than just sweets.

Then, after seeing identical twin sisters pass by in the street, Yûko makes a curious remark: that there are chains that only humans can use to bind others. Watanuki meets the sisters and senses that the relationship between them is not what it seems. . . .

xxxHOLiC
crosses over with Tsubasa, also by CLAMP. Don’t miss it!

It's Valentine's Day and while Domeki is showered with chocolates and cards from girls, Watanuki receives none. And then of course THIS volume had me going: AWWWW CUTE awwww oh no wait whew they're okay awwwww WHOA WHAT THE HECK WHYYYY?

I can say I really really loved this one. The word bound story and the hand it was creative and I gotta say I loved the Ghost whisperer feeling of it. Also not to forget the extra birthday chapter story which was really amazing. First time I enjoy an XXXHolIC volume like that.

I have a strong urge to watch the anime again! I forgot how much fun this series is to read and watch until I picked up the previous volume the other day. Speaking of the anime, the show has followed these four volumes pretty closely (and I'm excited to get to the point where I surpass the anime).

Rating will stay a 4 star. I found Domeki and Watanuki's interactions just frustrating and Domeki certainly didn't make things better by stealing that Valentine's treat and also doing some other things. It is like he wants to piss off Watanuki. :| This time some backstory on Watanuki (that apartment building, is that from Chobits, it wouldn't surprise me if it was), twins and the power of words, Valentines day (with a soul-stealing Zashiki Warashi who I like later on but now I just found it rude

Reread 2011. The ame-warashi steals Dômeki's soul for Valentine's Day; for once Watanuki rescues Dômeki. Twin sisters bind themselves to an unhappy fate through their own assumptions. Watanuki remembers his first friend, who is, of course, a ghost.I didn't remember the ame-warashi showing up so early! This story and the one about Watanuki's ghost friend are charming, probably because they show Watanuki's sensitive side instead of just having him flail around like a wet cat.

CLAMP, xxxHolic vol. 4 (Del Rey, 2004)xxxHolic is starting to get interesting, with the relationship between Watanuki and Domeki solidifying (at least, in its instability). Good storyline about twin sisters that's the first truly memorable story in the batch. Enough to keep me going with the series, at least. ***
